Yesterday was my planned personal retreat. It just happened to be the day after Mother’s Day. I took the street car and rode into the French Quarter. I stayed at a really old quaint family run hotel in the Quarter. I didn’t have an agenda, so it was fun to walk up and look at all the shops in the French Quarter. I had a very relaxing time.

What a great day! Andrew and Nicholas gave me several cards…super cute and thoughtful. We had “Kids Church”, along with our faith community gathering over lunch. Then the afternoon was spent playing in the backyard in the pool with the warm sun shining down!
and well, just busy. Back at the end of April (24th) we began our “open season”. I know it sounds like hunting…but it is a time when family and friends can come and visit. We limit the time frame, otherwise we would have people here (which we love) all year long. So from now until the end of May we have people visiting our community. My family, mom, sister and grandma come to visit for a week. So look for pictures to come.
All I can say is WOW! What an event…Jazz Fest was a combination of so many things! Young and older, grunge to pot smokin’ hippees, some locals and lots of people from out of town. Felt like “Spring Break” if you know what I mean. We had a friend watch the boys, so they weren’t exposed to people smoking pot right in front of us or to the side of us, or for that matter…all around us! We ate some great food, listened to local artist, and listened to Alison Krause and Robert Plant. But my favorite was Sheryl Crow. The video: you can hear Sheryl Crow in the background, but I was filming the guy dancing! He cracked us up!
Tonight Audubon Charter School had a performance at Tulane University. Andrew’s class did a piece called “The Rainforest”. He was a tree.

We have been talking about lying and how when you do, there will be consequences, and its better to tell the truth the first time. So Chad and I have told the boys each a time when we lied as a child and got grounded.
In the car…
Andrew: Mom, tell me a time when you were drowned.
